We are located on the grounds of Headwaters, a farm, permaculture and regenerative agriculture educational center located in the highlands which is the source of the Mad River and White River.
Landscape: The 175-acre farm is 4 miles from Rochester, VT, a quaint town nestled in the gorgeous Green Mountain National Forest. The property includes wooded acres, rolling pasture, 4 swimmable ponds and endless space for walking, meditation and rejuvenation. There is a large house (see Accommodations below) and magnificent timber framed barn on site.
Accommodations: A large home with 3 baths, 2 sun rooms, large porch, woodstoves and 8 bedrooms, each with private loft, sits on the site of Headwaters Farm. Rooms vary in size and are set-up with a combination of full and twin beds. Typically rooms are set-up as 2-3 person shared, though individual retreats may decide to offer private rooms w/shared bath or private rooms w/private bath. Rooms are standard with sheets, blankets and towels. The large kitchen, complete with a 6 burner stove, 2 ovens and large island for buffet serving, is ideal for cooking for a group. The living room, centered around the woodstove, and 2 sun rooms create ample cozy space for private reading, small and large group discussion.
Studio: The studio is a stone’s throw from the house, complete with two changing rooms, a half bath, and very large deck overlooking a pond and enormous view of forested mountains. Enclosed with windows on 3-sides, a clarestory providing huge amounts of low-glare natural light, and a floating wood floor, the studio is an ideal space for yoga, martial arts, meditation, dance, or other similar activities. The space, 35′ by 30′, is large enough to fit 22 yoga mats very comfortably, and up to 30 if fit tight together. The porch connected to the studio can also serve as a practice space if desired, and can hold 15 mats comfortably. The studio is outfitted with 15 yoga mats, 30 blocks, 15 straps and 20 blankets.
Rochester, VT: A lovely and typical (in a good way!) Vermont rural town, Rochester has a small residential population of 1100 people. At it’s center is a large and maintained town park, complete with giant shade trees and a gazebo. The town is home to a couple of restaurants including our favorite – Sandy’s cafe and book store which sources many local ingredients and offers excellent catering services. There are a few bed & breakfasts in the vicinity as well as many private homes available for rent. There is also a small grocery store, gas station and excellent hardware store.
